At last added in Whatsapp for android after months of wait: Here is an elaborated guide on how to enable it.
The Netizens have been demanding for whatsapp fingerprint lock support in android version ever since they added the feature in iphone during early quarter of the year. Fortunately, whatsapp announced the confirmation of biometric authentication this thursday after months of beta-testing. It is now available on latest updated version of whatsapp messenger on google play store.
Due to its vast user-base, the developers of whatsapp have always excelled in the terms of security and privacy. Though whatsapp already has the outstanding security feature of end-to-end encryption, biometric authentication added an extra layer to its security features. Users can now leave the rest of the phone accessible without letting someone access to their whatsapp conversations.
Along with this new asset, a few other features have also been introduced. For example, we can now decide the time after which the app will get locked i.e. 1 minute after closing or 30 minutes after closing whatsapp, but only if it is running as a background app. For more security, a feature to hide messages in the notification will also be provided to the users.
Following is the guide on how to enable it:
Step 1: Update Whatsapp messenger to latest version from google play store.
Step 2: Open the application and go to its settings.
Step 3: Click on account and navigate to privacy section.
Step 4: Look for the fingerprint lock option and click on it.
Step 5: Validate identity by adding your fingerprint.
Step 6: Choose your desired options and also to hide messages from notification, if required.
Step 7: The setup is now finished and fingerprint is ready to used. ^__^
